Analytics (beta)

Welcome to the Beta release of our updated Analytics Dashboard. This latest iteration introduces significant advancements, offering you more flexibility in organizing, analyzing, and monitoring performance data.

What’s New in the Beta Version

  • Multiple Dashboards: The Beta version allows you to create and manage multiple dashboards. Now, you can have individual dashboards for different data sets, projects, or specific analysis needs, each tailored to certain performance aspects.
  • Full Customization: You have complete control. Customize each dashboard to meet your specific needs. Add, remove, and reorder charts as you like, focusing on the metrics that matter most to you.

Managing Dashboards: Overview

The new Dashboard List page provides a straightforward way to manage all your dashboards. This feature simplifies how you handle various analytics dashboards, making it more efficient to work with your data.

Key features:

  • Create: Easily add new dashboards for different data sets or projects.
  • Edit: Modify existing dashboards by changing settings or layouts.
  • Delete: Remove unnecessary dashboards to maintain an organized workspace.
  • Access Dashboards: Directly open any dashboard from this list to begin your data analysis.

Dashboard structure

The dashboard page is composed of several interactive elements, each contributing to a detailed analysis of your execution’s performance. In the following sections, we’ll delve into the specifics of each component, explaining their roles and how they enhance your data interpretation experience:

  1. Edit Mode button
  2. Dashboard name
  3. Summary chart - displaying history line and acts also like a range picker.
  4. Time Range selector, allowing for relative or absolute time selection.
  5. Filters bar - Filters involved in the charts view.
  6. Basic/OQL switch mode
  7. Grouping settings
  8. Chart name
  9. Chart aggregate
  10. Charts settings (Grouping & Aggregate)
  11. Chart legend

Filters

Filters play a crucial role in customizing the data shown on your dashboard, enabling you to concentrate on particular information subsets.

Smart filter attributes (Status, Execution, Task, Plan) will be supported starting with Step 25. Until then, custom filters attributes must be created for their use.

You can add text, numeric, or date filters for in-depth analysis. Be mindful that these custom filters can query on RAW measurements, which might affect performance. For instance, adding business-related information like user IDs can help analyze specific user performance.

Most common attributes used in filter:

  • rnStatus: Measurement status (PASSED, FAILED, TECHNICAL_ERROR or INTERRUPTED)
  • eId: Execution Id
  • taskId: Scheduled Task Id
  • planId: Plan Id
  • name
  • origin

For those adept in advanced filtering, an OQL (Object Query Language) mode is available, converting filters into OQL queries for more complex filtering needs. However, complex queries can slow down the dashboard, so it’s important to balance query detail with performance.

Experiment with these filters to enhance your data analysis and extract meaningful insights, keeping in mind the balance between detail and dashboard efficiency.

Time Range Selection

The time-range selector on the dashboard offers both relative and absolute interval options. Choose from relative ranges like “Last 5 minutes,” “Last hour,” or “Last day” to quickly view recent data. For targeted analysis, set an absolute interval using specific start and end dates, such as “From May 1, 2023, 12:00 PM to May 5, 2023, 6:00 PM.”

You can also adjust the time frame directly on the summary chart by manually dragging its handles, allowing for flexible time period selection. For detailed examination of a particular data segment, simply zoom in on any chart to focus on specific data points and trends.

Grouping

The chart grouping feature allows you to organize and categorize the data displayed in the charts based on different criteria. By grouping the charts, you can gain insights into specific subsets of data and identify patterns or trends more effectively.

In addition to the predefined options, you have the flexibility to specify one or multiple custom fields for grouping. These custom fields can be defined based on your specific requirements, allowing you to categorize the data in a way that aligns with your analysis needs. For example, you can specify custom grouping fields such as Name and Task ID, separating multiple fields by value. This enables you to drill down into specific combinations of data and gain deeper insights into the relationships between different attributes.

The chart grouping capability empowers you to customize the organization of the data in the charts, making it easier to identify patterns and trends within different subsets of data. By exploring different grouping options, you can unlock valuable insights and make more informed decisions based on the specific criteria that matter to you.

Edit Mode - Overview

Engage the Edit Mode on your dashboard for a streamlined customization experience. In this mode, you’re empowered to rename your dashboard for better alignment with its content, fine-tune each chart, rearrange them for optimal flow, or add and remove charts as needed. Once you’re satisfied with your adjustments, hit save. This action locks in all your configurations, from the precise chart settings and selected time range to your specific grouping choices and filters, ensuring your dashboard perfectly matches your analytical needs.

  1. Submit/Cancel buttons. On cancel, the dashboard will revert to its state before starting the edit.
  2. Dashboard name
  3. Default global filters (changes are persisted when saving)
  4. Global grouping
  5. Shift chart to left
  6. Shift chart to right
  7. Edit chart
  8. Delete chart
  9. Add new chart

Edit Mode - Chart settings

The ‘Chart Settings’ feature is a straightforward section that lets you personalize each chart on your dashboard. You can give each chart a custom name, set individual filters, select the metrics to display, and adjust the chart’s width on the grid. Additional options let you fine-tune how each chart interacts with the rest of the dashboard, providing you with the flexibility to shape your data visualization to your exact preferences.

  1. Editable chart name
  2. Dashlet type
  3. Metric used
  4. Selected aggregate
  5. Data unit displayed in the chart and tooltip
  6. Optional local filters, applied only to the particular chart (can be merged with global filters when drawing the chart)
  7. Inherit flags
  8. Customization flags
  9. Chart local grouping (present only if ‘Inherit global grouping’ flag is not enabled)
  10. Chart display width: 50% (2 charts per line) or 100% (1 chart per line)
  11. Chart display type: Only ‘Line chart’ type is available in the current release.
