Step Portal

What is the Step Portal

The Step Portal is our management tool for Step SaaS, with it Step SaaS instances can be managed as well as organizational and payment settings.

Step Portal functionality

Creating a new Step SaaS cluster

Creating a new SaaS cluster is quick and easy. This is described in detail in the getting started page.

Managing a Step SaaS cluster

With the Step Portal one or more Step SaaS clusters can be created, each cluster runs an individual instance of Step SaaS and has its own unique URI.

In the cluster details page in-depth information about the step SaaS cluster are displayed and Stat SaaS cluster settings can be adjusted.

  1. The current Step SaaS cluster status. Only if the cluster is in the running state will usage be billed. Here it can also be started or stopped.
  2. The cluster URL allows you to access to your Step SaaS cluster. It can also be used to start your cluster, see 8. (Automatic start / stop cluster)
  3. The credentials for Step SaaS. These are unique to each cluster. Make sure to securely store the cluster password as this will only be shown in the session in which the Step SaaS cluster was created.
  4. The Step SaaS version running on the cluster. We will update the version after new releases for you automatically.
  5. The Agents configured for this Step SaaS cluster. Multiple agent types can be set-up depending on the intended use. As there can be more than one agent per type this is listed here as well.
  6. The plugins enabled for this Step SaaS cluster. Plugins can only be managed when creating the Step SaaS cluster.
  7. The current cost of the Step SaaS cluster when running. The cost is based on the number of agents and plugins set up and only applies when the cluster is in the running state.
  8. Automatic start / stop Step SaaS cluster is active by default. This will automatically stop the cluster if no input was detected for a given grace period. Opening the cluster URL will start the cluster again. It is recommended to use this setting to prevent accidental costs.
  9. The grace period for automatic start / stop, by default 30 minutes.
  10. Edit cluster enables the edit mode, allowing to configure the Step SaaS clusters agents and the automatic start / stop.

Managing Billing

We require a valid credit card to be added to the Step Portal in order to create and use a Step SaaS cluster, even if promotional credits were given at registration. The storage and execution of payments is securely managed by Stripe.

Managing Organization

The organizations contact details as well as additional members that should have access to the Step Portal can be managed here. Note: To give access to a Step SaaS cluster the user does not need to be added to the Step Portal, this is only required for users that should be able to [manage Step SaaS cluster](#Managing Step SaaS).
